Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest

Overall Rating = 9.12/10

I seen the first Pirates of the Caribbean so long ago I almost couldnt remember what happened in it. But this movie actually does a really good job of carrying on the story of Jack Sparrow and what not. I really liked this movie I never expected it to be as good as it was. I loved the way they pieced together how if someone did this task this person would be saved which would save another. Seems really complicated but its not really. Another thing i really liked about this sequel is that they have all of the same actors/characters, i hate sequels that dont have the same people it just doesnt make all that much sense to me then. The one thing i was iffy about during this movie was the swearing, this was a kids movie too and it was just stupid that they threw swearing it, i dont think it was necessary but apparently the writers did. Overall this movie was pretty darn good and worth the watch!

I haven’t seen the first Pirates of the Caribbean is such a long time that it was almost a little difficult to watch this one. Although the story was unique and stood separately from the first, it also tied in a lot with the plot of the first, especially near the end. It had amazing graphics and character designs. Davy Jones and his crew were amazing to watch, and the ships sailing and floating through the sea were incredible. I have always loved Johnny Depp in every movie that he’s been in but the way he put together the movements and voice of Jack Sparrow was phenomenal. It was funny and interesting and it’s a perfect family movie. As well as loving Depp acting I am a huge fan of Orlando Bloom’s just because of The Lord of the Rings, so this movie was a personal favorite. It was just an all around awesome film, it’s definitely my kind of movie. Although Keira Knightly is a good actress I really didnt enjoy watching her in this film and if I could change one this about The Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest it would definately be her. But i cant think of anyone else that could have done a better job, let me know if you have any ideas about who could have been a better Elizabeth :). The ending was a little annoying but it was still put together well. I think in conclusion; i could have got into the movie a little more if I had have recently seen the first, so my recommendation is rent them together and watch them simultaneously.

  2. The music on the second one is a lot better, but there is too much going on. First they are on one island with cannibals, then another one and another one after that.

It’s just too much for one film and although I’ve seen it many times now, I can never remember what happened at the beginning when I’ve finished watching it.

I like the references to the first one though. There is a huge list on Wikipedia about all of them and the second film is almost an entire reference.

And just how did the captain from the first one survive? 🙂
